Trichofolliculoma is not a true neoplasm, but a group of follicular hamartomas in which fully formed follicular structures share a central infundibular space. Clinically, this appears as a single superficial papule or nodule that may have many small, lightly pigmented vellus hairs emerging from a central pore. It is most often seen in adults, is most frequently solitary, and is most commonly on the face, scalp, or upper trunk.

Trichofolliculomas develop spontaneously and are not associated with any systemic syndromes. They are considered benign lesions, although rare perineural invasion and reoccurrence after excision have been described.
